I’m Renske Diks, an Amsterdam-based anthropologist and photographer. My work is driven by a deep interest in people, places and visual storytelling.
I’m fascinated by places of contrast: seeing the beauty in faded glory, the quiet and timeless in a bustling city, a collision of innovation and scars from the past. Places such as Los Angeles and Beirut, that I keep coming back to and give endless inspiration.
When I’m portraying people, I aim to focus on intimate, personal retellings of overlooked stories. My first book, ‘Queens of Beirut’, was published in 2023 and sheds a light on the lives of seven Drag Queens in Lebanon. I’m currently working on ‘Here’, a book featuring stories and photographs of LGBTQ+ refugees in The Netherlands, expected to be released in 2027.
